RECYCLING NEWS

Chapter 303, Article II, Recycling of the North Coventry Code requires all Residents, Commercial, Institutional and Municipal facilities do mandatory separation and collection of recyclable materials and leaf waste. Most comply with the requirements of the recyclables shown in this downloadable document, but not everyone complies with the leaf recycling. Leaf Waste is leaves, garden residue, shrubbery and tree trimmings, and similar materials but not including grass clippings. Trash Haulers in the Township are required to provide their customers with a date in October, November, December, and once in the spring of each year when they will pick up leaf waste in the brown paper bags. Please check the Township web site for a listing of the dates for your hauler. If they are not posted please let us know so we can contact and post that hauler for you.

North Coventry is very lucky to have Arborganic Acres, an On-Farm Composting Facility, located in the Township, where you can drop off your leaf and yard waste. They are located at 901 Cherry Hill Lane and will accept leaf waste, in bulk or in brown paper bags, from North Coventry Residents FREE OF CHARGE. You may have to provide documentation of your residence. Spring/Summer (April 1 – November 30) they are open Monday thru Saturday from 7 AM - 5 PM. Winter months (December 1st – March 31st) they are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 9 AM – 3 PM. Early and late service is possible with prior arrangement. The Township is very happy that owners and operators of this facility are so willing to provide our township residents with this service. This new drop-off facility covers recyclable material (Leaf Waste) that was not previously covered by another location in the Township. Arborganic Acres also offers mulches, compost, screened top soil and firewood for sale. The sale of these materials supports the operation of this facility enabling it to remain in our township. The Township Recycling Code provides that any resident who otherwise provides for proper disposal of leaf waste on their property shall not be required to comply with these provisions. However, it also provides for enforcement and penalties for those who do not comply!
