HOURS: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM Monday through Friday

If your children want to make new friends, see old friends, play board games, field games and sports, make crafts and take day trips all in a relaxed, easy going atmosphere, then the Kenilworth Park Summer Day Camp is the
place you want to be.

Children ages 6 – 12 are invited to spend 6 weeks at Kenilworth Park,
from June 21 to July 30, 2010, Monday thru Friday 9:00a to 12:00p. The last day of camp we have a cookout and the entire family is invited join us.

Rainy Day Policy
Our program runs rain or shine. We do our best during inclement weather to
make sure the children get out of the rain and under shelter. Our staff will report
each day regardless of weather.

2010 DCNR Awards $530,000 to North Coventry Township to Acquire Open Space

May 23, 2010-Pennsylvania will invest $530,000 to protect 49 acres of natural area and improve trail connections in North Coventry Township, Chester County, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau Director Brenda Barrett said today.

“These parcels are at intersections of partially developed trails, and will make critical links in the Schuylkill River Trail system, which travels all the way from the City of Philadelphia, through Pottstown and on to French Creek State Park in Berks County,” Barrett said at the Coventry Woods Festival, an event celebrating healthy lands and people in North Coventry Township.

“This regional trail system is a tremendous resource for sustainable economic development, outdoor recreation and connecting people to nature in a very populated area. North Coventry Township is to be congratulated for being a leader in land conservation and protecting resources for the benefit of the community and the region.”

The grants are for the following:

$390,000 to acquire a 39.4 acre property at 1894 St. Peters Road that was formerly part of the Nueva Esperanza Youth Camp. This is the second acquisition that DCNR has supported for purchase of parcels previously owned by the former summer camp. These properties are being added to Coventry Woods Preserve, a North Coventry Township park that now encompasses more than 400 acres, with trails throughout and a connection to French Creek State Park. Coventry Woods is part of the Hopewell Big Woods, the most important mature forested landscape in southeast Pennsylvania. The property is a maturing woodland situated at the headwaters of Pigeon Creek and the Rock Run tributary of French Creek.

$140,000 to acquire the Gambone Tract at Hanover St. and Kemp Road, which is a key link in a developing the Coventry Heights Trail connecting Coventry Woods to Pottstown. This 9.6 acre parcel will facilitate the development of a larger municipal park, connecting to the Schuylkill River Trail at Pottstown and on through to French Creek State Park.

These Community Conservation Partnerships Program grants are supported by the Keystone Fund, a DCNR account generated from a portion of the state’s realty transfer tax.

Coventry Woods is an important conservation resource within a special landscape known as the Schuylkill Highlands that stretches through seven counties -- Berks, Bucks, Chester, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh and Montgomery. The vision of the Schuylkill Highlands Conservation Landscape Initiative is to protect what is special in this region by saving high-quality lands and connecting people and communities through a network of trails and gateway communities.

Both of these acquisitions were central to signature goals of the Schuylkill Highlands CLI – protection and stewardship of the significant forested natural resources in the Pennsylvania Highlands and Schuylkill River watershed and creating a network of interconnecting trails from the Schuylkill River Trail through the Hopewell Big Woods.

Private well water should be tested yearly, and in some cases more often, according to new guidance offered by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The recommendations call for annual well testing, especially for nitrate and microorganisms such as coliform bacteria, which can indicate that sewage has contaminated the well. Children are especially vulnerable to waterborne illnesses that may come from contaminated wells.

chester county shared ride program

DID YOU KNOW………………. ….if you are 65 or older you are eligible to participate in the Aging Shared Ride program? In Chester County, Rover is the authorized transportation for the Aging Shared Ride program. For essential rides the program is subsidized by the PA Department of Transportation and the Chester County Department of Aging Services, with a small portion of the fare paid by the rider. Currently, the rider’s portion of the fare is 75 cents each way. All of the Para transit buses are accessible. All rides must be scheduled in advance. <LEARN MORE>

Calvary Christian Center, located at 426 Laurelwood Road in Pottstown, (beside the Coventry Mall) is an active host site for Angel Food for the surrounding area. Over the past four years The Center has helped nearly a 1,000 families stretch their food budget and will continue to do so in the future. “We have no intentions, now or in the near future, of stopping this ministry.” Says, Cindy McKinley, the host site director.

If you have been ordering from a host site in the area that is no longer participating in Angel Food you are more than welcome to place your orders through Calvary Christian Center.

Dates and Times for ordering July are: Saturday, July 17th - 10am to 12 noon; Monday, July 19th - 10am to 2pm; and Tuesday, July 20th - 10am to 12 noon.  Orders can also be placed on-line by going to www.calvarychristian.info and follow the link to Angel Food.

Pick Up for July is Friday, July 23rd at 6:30pm.
